Part-time Patient Liaison

STANA seeks a highly organized, results-oriented, compassionate person to serve as a Patient Liaison to cultivate and facilitate a cohort of patients whose lived experiences will help STANA build capacity to grow awareness for increased patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR). This part-time role of approximately two hours per week for up to 24 months will be instrumental in assisting STANA in achieving milestones, and deliverables of a project intended to build sustainable capacity for PCOR and comparative effectiveness research within the chemosensory community.

  

Reporting to STANA’s Project Lead, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Meet regularly (monthly or bi-monthly) with the Project Lead to report on progress  
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities with patients 
  • Help plan a Patient Open House to recruit a cohort of engaged patient representatives with lived experiences  
  • Oversee and facilitate the Patient Cohort, including scheduling and leading meetings with the Patient Cohort, recording and archiving meeting minutes, and managing follow-on steps 
  • Coordinate the Patient Cohort’s attendance and participation at a Stakeholder Workshop with patients, clinicians, and researchers in Year 2 
  • Ensure that the Patient Cohort members complete Research Fundamentals training 
  • Assist in achieving contracted milestones, and managing deadlines, and reporting  


Candidates for this role should have strong communication, attention to detail, and superior organizational skills and have coaching and mentoring experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom are required. This part-time position, approximately 2 hours a week at $25 per hour for up to 24 months, is funded through a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award (EASO-29387) and relies on the successful completion of contracted milestones and deliverables.  


Other Qualifications include: 

  • High level of empathy and confidentiality  
  • Advanced level skills in MS products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups of individuals 
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently 
  • BS or BA preferred 
  • Previous experience in an academic, healthcare, research, patient advocacy, or other non-profit organization is a plus 


The selected candidate will be expected to work primarily virtually and may be asked to attend 1 to 2 in-person meetings. Weekly attendance at team meetings held outside of normal business hours may be required or necessary to accommodate time zone differences of other team members or Patient Cohort member schedules.
